In Stasis, In Between
To thrive when surrounded,
Or in isolation.
In the thrum of the built, and the mechanical,
or in the calm of wind, and leaf, and beast.
A question of belonging,
in one's place and in one's skin.
To be seen or to be forgotten,
Eyes turned outwards, or turned within.
To feel trapped in unseen constructions,
or lost without their deafening din.
And to remain and dwell on the fringes,
in the ephemeral shadows,
in a stasis between habit and heart’s want and need.
In honor of a specter
left behind in the woods
