Schemer

A Skeleton Track

This recording represents the bone structure of the newest song I’ve been working on for Ongeloof. With two guitars and a first version of a drum track, this foundation of riffs and structure serves as the framework upon which other layers will be built and expanded. I wanted to include a piece like this early on in The Gallery of Resonant Relics, as I plan to add more work-in-progress posts from time to time.

A Dark Lullabye

The seed for this song lay in the concept: How would a lullaby by Ongeloof sound?
With this in mind, I started writing. Initially, the melodies carried a calm,
soothing aspect, yet—as it often does—my natural way of composing took hold. What emerged was a different entity. While this song still holds the essence of a child’s dream at its core, it is now wrapped in an existential conflict—the conflict of a mind projecting itself outward, seeking to grasp the infinite blackness between the stars—and to find peace and respite therein.

Words and Images

A very early draft of the lyrics has been written, reflecting on Dusk—Schemer in my own language.
Dusk exists as an in-between—a threshold between light and dark, day and night, dreaming and wakefulness. And in that liminality, it becomes a gateway to the infinite beyond. A transition of the mind between our reality and the vast, endless void between the stars—again, light and dark, reality and dream. A conduit through which thought and imagination wander unbound, a domain to explore without limits—to learn and grow beyond the constraints that bind us to this realm.
