We, The Flagellants
We build ourselves a cage to attain that which a broken society tells us we need to want. And in our youthful lack of insight, we blindly believe their prattling.
Then, years later, we whip ourselves on with an enigmatic mixture of need and obligation. We drudge ever onward in the self-repeating monotony that becomes a very dominant part of our lives.
We, the flagellants of a manufactured belief.
We, the flagellants of the religion of gain.
Needing ever more as we feed the constructs they made us believe in.
Too many times we walk the same path.
Over and over as mind-numbing and emotionally flattening repetition weighs us down.
Instead, we should look inward, and find our compass. Look for our true path within, instead of following the guidelines we find on the outside. The latter are often the easier choice, but they make you sleepwalk through life, instead of living it yourself–living it your way.
Don’t become a copy of something you didn’t want to be in the first place. Be yourself, not what others expect you to be.
Close your eyes, follow your inner voice, and trust in it.
Feel possibility and choice, instead of pressure and confinement.
It is the only way to truly live your life.
